“The Great One” is the leading scorer in NHL history, with more goals and assists than any other player. He is the only player in NHL history to total over 200 points in one season – an accomplishment that he tallied four times over his illustrious Hall of Fame career. In addition, he scored over 100 points in 16 seasons, 14 of them which were done consecutively. By the time Gretzky retired in 1999 he held 61 NHL records. After announcing his retirement in 1999, the NHL immediately inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame retired his iconic #99 across the entire league.

Featured in this lot is the 1991 All-Star game jersey worn by Gretzky at Chicago Stadium on Sunday, January 19, 1991. Gretzky served as captain of the Campbell Conference in the 42nd annual NHL All-Star Game. Gretzky saw his team dominate the Wales Conference team in an 11-5 victory. Sewn on to the inner rear collar is the Maska Air-Knit manufacturer’s tag with the size “54” handwritten on it in blue pen. Across the chest is the large “NHL” logo crest in orange, black and white tackle twill. On the upper left chest is the captain’s “C” logo in orange on black tackle twill. Horizontally stitched on across the bottom of the front of the and back of the jersey are twelve black tackle twill stars. On the right sleeve is the “1991 42ND NHL ALL STAR GAME” Chicago Stadium patch. On both sleeves is the player number “99” sewn on in orange on white tackle twill. Stretching across the back of the jersey is a white jersey matching nameplate sewn on with the player name “GRETZKY” sewn over the name plate in black tackle twill. Adjacent beneath the name is Gretzky's #99 sewn on in orange on black tackle twill. On the back right rear tail is an “NHL” and “CCM” logo. The fight strap maintains intact.
